Mysuru: Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO) will organize a blood donation camp on its premises on June 13, from 10 am to 5 pm, to commemorate National Cancer Survivors Day. The event seeks to raise awareness about cancer survivorship and encourage voluntary blood donation for patients undergoing treatment and others in need of life-saving transfusions.
Purpose of the Camp
National Cancer Survivors Day is observed globally to honor the courage, resilience, and achievements of cancer survivors, while also recognizing the support provided by families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals throughout their journey. This year, BHIO is leveraging the occasion to address the critical need for blood donations in cancer care.
Call to Action from Medical Experts
Dr. Avinash CB, Chief Medical Oncologist at BHIO, urged the public to participate in the camp. He stated, "Be the reason someone survives. Cancer survivors are living proof that hope is stronger than cancer." His appeal underscores the transformative impact of blood donation on patients' lives.
Gowtham Dhamerla, Chief Operating Officer of BHIO, highlighted that donated blood is a vital resource in cancer care. He appealed to eligible donors, including students, employees, social organization workers, and members of the public, to join this noble cause. "Every donation can make a significant difference in a patient's treatment and recovery," he added.
