Jaipur's Zenana Hospital to Shift Departments for Major Renovation
Zenana Hospital Jaipur departments shift for building repair

In a significant move aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure, several departments of the historic Zenana Hospital in Jaipur are set to be relocated to a newly constructed building. This strategic shift will pave the way for comprehensive repair and beautification work on the old hospital structure, ultimately promising more convenient and enhanced health services for patients.

Inspection Directs Urgent Action

The decision follows a detailed inspection of the facility conducted by Principal Secretary (Health) Gayatri Rathore on Thursday. During her visit, Rathore thoroughly reviewed the deteriorating condition of the ageing building and concluded that it requires immediate attention.

She issued clear directives to hospital officials, instructing them to expedite the relocation of selected departments to the new building. The priority is to begin restoration work at the earliest, focusing initially on the most deteriorated sections of the old hospital. Rathore also emphasised the need for proper utilisation of the already approved budget allocated for this crucial repair project.

Focus on Patient Safety and Cleanliness

During her inspection tour, the Principal Secretary visited critical hospital facilities to assess their current state firsthand. Her itinerary included:

  • The help desk
  • The Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • The labour room
  • The sonography room
  • General wards

Throughout the review, Rathore consistently emphasised the paramount importance of patient safety and comfort. She directed the hospital authorities to maintain stringent standards of cleanliness across all areas, ensuring a hygienic and safe environment for both patients and medical staff.

Pathway to Improved Healthcare Services

The planned transition involves a phased approach. Once the identified departments are successfully shifted to the new building, the vacated space in the old structure will undergo systematic repair and aesthetic enhancement. This two-pronged strategy is designed to minimise disruption to ongoing medical services while facilitating a much-needed infrastructural overhaul.

The renovation of Zenana Hospital is expected to address long-standing maintenance issues, modernise facilities, and create a more patient-friendly atmosphere. The initiative reflects the health department's commitment to upgrading public healthcare infrastructure in Rajasthan's capital, ensuring that the hospital can continue to serve the community with improved efficiency and comfort for years to come.
