Hyderabad's Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, made a compelling appeal to the medical community on Saturday, emphasizing his government's commitment to prioritizing healthcare and seeking active collaboration from doctors. He delivered this message while addressing the prestigious Fellows India-2026 conference of cardiologists at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
Government Seeks Doctors' Partnership for Public Good
Revanth Reddy stated that the Congress government is giving top priority to the healthcare sector. He called upon doctors to actively support the state by offering their valuable suggestions and feedback to help shape and improve health policies. The Chief Minister made it clear that his administration is open to working closely with medical professionals in the larger public interest and urged them to share their inputs freely.
Highlighting the rapid advances in the field, he pointed out that quantum computing and artificial intelligence are transforming healthcare into a high-tech domain. While stressing the importance of doctors staying updated with the latest technological innovations, he also cautioned them to retain the essential human touch in patient care, balancing technology with compassion.
Doctors' Societal Role and Mission Against Heart Disease
The Chief Minister spoke about the unique position doctors hold in society. He observed that not everyone can qualify to become a doctor, making them a special group entrusted with people's lives. He urged the medical fraternity not to forget their profound responsibility towards society and humanity.
Expressing serious concern over the growing number of deaths due to heart disease, Revanth Reddy called for a focused mission to prevent cardiac ailments. He advocated for a joint effort between the government and doctors to save lives, citing simple yet effective volunteer initiatives like teaching CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to school students as an example. He noted that preventive medicine is often neglected and asserted that public education could significantly improve overall health outcomes.
Hyderabad as an Emerging Healthcare Hub
Revanth Reddy welcomed the hosting of the Fellows India Conference in Hyderabad, which saw participation from over 500 cardiologists from across India and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. He added that Hyderabad is rapidly emerging as a hub of excellence in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, positioning the city and state for global leadership in the sector.
In a memorable remark, the Chief Minister described himself as a 'social doctor'. Saying he was "not a doctor, yet a doctor," he explained his role as being responsible for diagnosing and addressing social diseases. He concluded by urging doctors to help raise the quality of healthcare in Telangana, asserting that the state must strive to be among the best in the world.
