NMC Mandates Annual Disclosure by May 30 for MBBS Renewal

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive requiring all medical colleges across India to submit detailed annual disclosure reports by May 30 for the renewal of MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session. The commission has warned that no extensions will be granted beyond this deadline.

Details of the Directive

In a notice published by the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), the NMC stated that all existing medical colleges approved to run MBBS courses must upload mandatory institutional data on the commission’s portal. This requirement falls under the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations, 2023.

Annual Renewal Mechanism

The disclosure process is a critical component of the annual renewal mechanism through which colleges receive permission to continue admitting undergraduate medical students. The NMC has emphasized that compliance is mandatory for all institutions.

Processing Fee and Payment

Colleges are required to pay an online processing fee of INR 3.54 lakh, inclusive of GST, through the designated portal while applying for renewal. The NMC has clarified that no other mode of payment will be accepted.

Accuracy and Transparency

The commission has warned colleges to ensure that all information uploaded on the portal is accurate and consistent across different NMC boards. Submitted data may be made public if required. Once an application is submitted, colleges will not be allowed to edit the information.
