Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Distributes Appointment Letters to 1,224 New Doctors
In a significant move to bolster the public healthcare infrastructure, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday presided over a ceremony in Patna where he personally handed over appointment letters to 1,224 newly appointed specialist and general medical officers. The event, organized by the state health department, underscored the government's unwavering focus on enhancing medical services and reinforcing the public health system across Bihar.
Strengthening Healthcare Services
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended his heartfelt best wishes to the newly appointed doctors for their future endeavors. He emphasized that the state government is continuously working to improve and strengthen the healthcare system, ensuring that citizens have access to quality medical facilities. The appointment letters were ceremonially distributed by the Chief Minister to a group of selected candidates, including Anubhav Prakash, Mrinal Kumar, Raushan Kumar, Neha Kumari, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Utkarsh Sharma, Ashish Ranjan, Alok Ranjan, and Abhishek Kumar. This symbolic gesture aimed to recognize their achievement and motivate them to contribute effectively to the public health sector.
Background of Recent Health Reforms
The program was conducted against the backdrop of recent stringent measures implemented by the Bihar government to enhance discipline and accountability within the health services. Key initiatives include the framing of rules to curb private practice by government doctors, ensuring their full availability and focus on public hospitals, especially in rural regions. Additionally, inspections have been carried out in government hospitals to identify and take strict action against touts and middlemen who exploit patients by luring them to private hospitals, X-ray centers, and medical stores.

Health department secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh welcomed the Chief Minister with a bouquet.
