Minister Patil Convenes Meeting at BRIMS to Address Irregularities and Plan Development
In a significant move to tackle ongoing issues, Dr Sharan Prakash R Patil, the Minister of Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, convened a crucial meeting at BRIMS Hall in Kalaburagi. The gathering included medical officers and administrative officers from BRIMS, following numerous complaints about irregularities within the institution.
Immediate Actions and Future Plans Announced
After carefully listening to the problems raised during the meeting, Minister Patil outlined a comprehensive plan to address the concerns. He emphasized the need for all department heads in the medical sciences to promptly list their requirements and demands for grants, submitting them without delay. This step is seen as essential for streamlining resource allocation and improving operational efficiency at BRIMS.
In a key announcement, the minister revealed that a proposal for a special grant aimed at the overall development of BRIMS will be presented during the upcoming budget session. This initiative is expected to provide much-needed financial support for infrastructure upgrades, equipment procurement, and other critical areas to enhance the hospital's services.
Urgent Repairs and Staff Salary Updates
To address immediate concerns, Minister Patil directed the Public Works Department executive engineer to undertake urgent repairs. Specifically, he ordered the immediate repair of the emergency treatment operation theatre and the swift completion of work related to water leakage and collection issues on the ground floor. These actions are intended to ensure patient safety and maintain hygienic conditions within the facility.
Regarding staff welfare, it was confirmed that salaries for temporary and contract employees have been paid up until December. The minister assured that steps are being taken to disburse the remaining grants, aiming to alleviate financial stress among the workforce and promote stability.
Collaboration with Jayadeva Hospital and Cath Lab Launch
In a move to expand specialized healthcare services, Minister Patil announced that an agreement is being finalized with Jayadeva Hospital in Kalaburagi for heart-related treatments. This partnership is expected to enhance cardiac care accessibility for patients in the region.
Additionally, he confirmed that BRIMS' catheterization laboratory will be operational soon, marking a significant advancement in diagnostic and interventional cardiology services at the hospital. This development is poised to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for such treatments.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including ADC Shivananda B Karale, BRIMS Director Shivakumar Shetkara, and various medical officers, underscoring the collective effort to drive improvements at BRIMS.
