In a significant push to bolster its public healthcare system, the Jharkhand government has initiated a major recruitment drive. State Health Minister Irfan Ansari formally handed over appointment letters to 66 newly recruited doctors during a ceremony held in Ranchi on Thursday.
Major Recruitment Drive to Strengthen Healthcare
The newly appointed medical professionals include 33 medical officers and 33 specialist medical officers, all hired on a contractual basis. Minister Ansari emphasized that this is just the beginning of a much larger initiative. He revealed that the health department is planning to bring in approximately 10,000 additional personnel across various roles in the health sector.
"The large-scale recruitment drive is aimed at strengthening healthcare services across the state and ensure availability of skilled professionals at all levels," stated Ansari. He assured that the recruitment process would continue without any interruption, highlighting that these appointments are crucial to bridge the existing manpower gap and significantly improve service delivery in government hospitals and health institutions.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Centralised Monitoring
Beyond recruitment, the minister outlined an ambitious plan for infrastructural modernization. A key announcement was the establishment of a central command and control centre. This monitoring hub will be set up both at the health department headquarters and at the minister's residence to ensure proper oversight and swift response.
In a move to enhance diagnostic capabilities, the government has approved Rs 9 crore for installing blood separation unit machines in all districts. Furthermore, a dedicated bone marrow transplant unit for treating sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia, and aplastic anaemia will soon be established at Ranchi Sadar Hospital.
Focus on Technology and Medical Colleges
Ansari also directed all civil surgeons to submit updated lists of vacant posts to accelerate future recruitment. He set a clear timeline, stating that all medical colleges in Jharkhand will be made fully functional within the next three years.
Embracing technological advancement, the minister announced plans to establish seven ultra-modern diagnostic laboratories across the state. There are also proposals to integrate medical colleges with AI-based, robotic, and smart health systems, aiming to bring cutting-edge technology to patient care.
This multi-pronged strategy combining massive recruitment, infrastructure investment, and tech integration signals a robust effort by the Jharkhand government to transform its public healthcare landscape and address critical gaps in medical services for its citizens.
