Jaipur Traffic Police to Receive Mandatory Life-Saving Training from SMS Hospital
In a significant move to enhance emergency response on city roads, doctors from the state-run SMS Hospital will begin conducting mandatory basic life support (BLS) training for all traffic officials under the Jaipur Police Commissionerate starting Monday morning. This initiative is specifically designed to equip traffic personnel with the essential skills needed to provide immediate first-response care to accident victims before professional medical teams can arrive at the scene.
Training Structure and Objectives
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sumit Meharda explained the rationale behind this critical program. "Traffic police often act as the first responders in road accidents. To ensure that every traffic police personnel is proficient in BLS, we are providing this training through experts from SMS Hospital. We have organized the officials into batches, with each batch consisting of 50 personnel," stated DCP Meharda. The primary goal is to reduce fatalities resulting from delayed first-aid for those injured in road accidents, a common issue in urban areas.
Training Schedule and Collaboration
The BLS training camps will be held regularly every Monday from 9 am to 12 pm at the Skill Lab located within the SMS Trauma Centre in Jaipur. This program is being conducted in collaboration with the Rotary Club Jaipur Citizen, highlighting a community-driven approach to public safety. Traffic officials will receive comprehensive instruction, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, to effectively assist accident victims until emergency medical services take over.
