In a significant push to bolster healthcare infrastructure in Hyderabad, the state's Roads and Buildings Special Chief Secretary, Vikas Raj, has issued a firm directive to ensure the timely completion of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Hospital in Alwal. The high-level review meeting set a clear target: have the massive facility fully operational and ready for inauguration by the end of March 2026.
Strict Adherence to Timelines Emphasised
During a progress review with engineers from the R&B department and representatives of the executing agency, CS Vikas Raj underscored the critical importance of sticking to the government-mandated schedule. He instructed all involved parties to expedite the remaining construction work while maintaining stringent quality standards. The official stressed that TIMS hospitals are among the state government's top-priority projects, reflecting a commitment to enhancing public medical services.
Project Scale and Current Progress
The scale of the Alwal facility is monumental. It is being developed over a built-up area of 12,14,060 square feet with an estimated project cost of a staggering ₹1,196 crore. Officials presented a detailed progress report to the Chief Secretary, indicating that structural works are fully complete. Furthermore, about 95% of the brickwork and plastering has been finished.
Regarding specialised installations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works have reached approximately 60% completion. Simultaneously, tasks like flooring and painting are about 50% complete. Cumulatively, the project has achieved nearly 70% physical progress, putting it on a promising track toward the 2026 deadline.
Coordinated Push for Operational Readiness
Beyond just construction, Vikas Raj highlighted the need for seamless coordination to ensure the hospital becomes fully functional post-completion. He directed the R&B department to work closely with the health department to facilitate the timely installation of all necessary medical equipment and critical infrastructure. This proactive coordination is aimed at achieving smooth operational readiness from day one.
The Chief Secretary concluded by stating that regular field inspections would continue to monitor progress. He urged all stakeholders, including officials and the contractor, to work in an alert and coordinated manner to successfully meet the March 2026 deadline, delivering a world-class medical institute to the people of Telangana.
