Himachal CM Sukhu Directs Digital Push in Health Services

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has issued a decisive directive to extensively digitise the state's healthcare services. The move aims to significantly enhance accessibility, transparency, and the overall delivery of medical care to the citizens.

Committee Formed for Swift Digital Roadmap

During a high-level review meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2026, CM Sukhu announced the formation of a dedicated committee. This committee will be chaired by the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil. Its primary mandate is to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for integrating digital facilities into the health sector. The committee has been instructed to submit its detailed report within a strict timeline of ten days.

The meeting saw the participation of senior officials from the State Health Department, the National Health Mission, and the Directorate of Medical Education. Sukhu emphasised that a shift to online services would not only conserve valuable time and resources but also substantially improve healthcare quality for patients across the state.

Key Digital Initiatives Announced

The Chief Minister outlined several specific digital interventions to be prioritised. He directed the development and implementation of a unified online patient registration system for all health institutions and hospitals in Himachal Pradesh.

Furthermore, he stressed the need for effective execution of the Himcare Scheme, ensuring its mapping reaches every panchayat. He also called for the integration of all treatment-related patient data. A significant step will be the linking of the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) card with the Him Parivar portal, creating a seamless digital health identity for families.

Sukhu stated that these digital measures would fortify monitoring systems, maintain online records efficiently, and improve grievance redressal mechanisms. He added that such innovation in health service administration is crucial for building a healthier population and a stronger state.

Launch of State Allied Council Website

In a related development to bolster digital governance, the Chief Minister launched the official website of the State Allied and Health Care Council, Himachal Pradesh (http://www.sahchp.in). He described the launch as a major stride towards transparency and efficiency in the allied healthcare sector.

The website is designed to be a user-friendly platform for health professionals, educational institutions, students, and the general public. CM Sukhu highlighted that Himachal Pradesh is at the forefront of implementing the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act. This reinforces the principle of “One Nation, One Curriculum, One Registration” and ensures uniform standards for healthcare professionals.

Council Chairman Vinod Chauhan presented the website's features to the Chief Minister. The event was attended by senior officers and legislators.

Infrastructure Boost with International Support

Beyond digital integration, the Chief Minister also informed that the physical health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh is being upgraded with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This dual approach of strengthening both digital and physical infrastructure underscores the state government's comprehensive vision for a robust healthcare system.
