Haryana Greenlights Major Medical Equipment Acquisition to Strengthen Healthcare Services
In a significant move to bolster public health infrastructure, the Haryana Health and Family Welfare Department has sanctioned the purchase of essential medical equipment valued at Rs 2.39 crore. This initiative aims to elevate patient care standards and fortify healthcare delivery systems throughout the state.
Comprehensive Equipment Procurement for Enhanced Medical Facilities
The approved procurement includes a diverse range of critical devices designed to address specific healthcare needs. The equipment list comprises 25 slit lamps, 140 radiant warmers, 60 LED phototherapy units, and 1,575 plastic-moulded pallets. These items will be distributed to civil hospitals and neonatal care units, significantly upgrading diagnostic, treatment, and storage capabilities within government health institutions.
Strategic Decision-Making and Implementation Framework
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the Special Standing Purchase Committee (Higher), which was presided over by Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department. To ensure seamless operation and longevity, the procurement will be executed under a two-year rate contract that incorporates comprehensive maintenance support, guaranteeing uninterrupted functionality of the equipment.
Targeted Benefits for Specialized Healthcare Services
Ophthalmology Enhancement: The 25 slit lamps, with an approximate value of Rs 74 lakh, will be installed in the ophthalmology departments of civil hospitals. This investment is poised to strengthen eye diagnostic services, facilitating early detection and effective treatment of vision-related disorders, thereby improving outcomes for patients with ocular conditions.
Neonatal Care Advancements: For newborn care, 140 radiant warmers, costing around Rs 82 lakh, will play a crucial role in maintaining optimal body temperature for infants immediately after birth. This technology is vital for reducing the risk of complications and ensuring healthier starts for newborns. Additionally, 60 LED phototherapy units, valued at Rs 32 lakh, will be utilized to treat neonatal jaundice, a common yet potentially serious condition among infants, enhancing survival rates and well-being.
Logistics and Storage Infrastructure Upgrade
To improve efficiency in medical supply management, 1,575 plastic-moulded pallets, worth Rs 51 lakh, will be supplied to HMSCL warehouses. These pallets are expected to enhance inventory management systems and ensure the safe storage of medicines and medical supplies, thereby supporting streamlined healthcare operations across the state.
