Chandigarh Approves Three Major Development Projects

The Project Appraisal and Approval Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad, has given the green light to three major development projects in Chandigarh, aimed at bolstering public healthcare and education infrastructure. These initiatives include the construction of a 50-bed critical care hospital at the Sub-District Hospital in Manimajra, an Ayush health and wellness centre with an administrative block in Sector 28, and an additional academic block at the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 27-C.

Critical Care Hospital in Manimajra

The 50-bed critical care hospital will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). The central government has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 16.6 crore for this project, which aims to enhance critical healthcare infrastructure and improve secondary and tertiary healthcare services for residents of Manimajra, Mauli Jagran, and the IT Park area. The proposed facility will be built on a 2.8-acre site at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Manimajra, with an estimated total cost of Rs 82 crore.

Ayush Health and Wellness Centre

To strengthen Ayush healthcare services, a new Ayush health and wellness centre along with an administrative block will be constructed in Sector 28 at an estimated cost of Rs 20.8 crore. This project is expected to improve access to Ayush-based healthcare for residents of Sectors 26, 28, 29, and 30, as well as Bapu Dham Colony and adjoining areas.

Additional Academic Block at School

Administrative approval has also been granted for the construction of an additional block at the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 27-C, at a cost of Rs 8.4 crore. The ground-plus-two-floors building will feature 15 classrooms, addressing the growing demand for educational infrastructure and enhancing the learning environment for students.

These projects have been meticulously planned to address existing gaps in healthcare and educational infrastructure, improve the accessibility of public services, and cater to the evolving needs of Chandigarh residents.
