Andhra Pradesh Accelerates Preparations for New Piduguralla Hospital Launch
In a significant development for healthcare infrastructure in the region, the Andhra Pradesh government is taking decisive steps to operationalize the new Piduguralla Government Teaching Hospital. Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur announced on Wednesday that outpatient department (OPD) services are targeted to commence by April 15, marking a crucial milestone in the facility's phased launch.
High-Level Inspection and Directives for Timely Completion
Secretary Gaur, accompanied by senior officials from the medical and health department as well as Palnadu district administration, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing construction at the Piduguralla Medical College and Hospital complex. During the visit, he emphasized the urgency of completing all pending works by the April 15 deadline to ensure the hospital is prepared for service initiation.
"We are expediting all necessary arrangements to guarantee the timely rollout of medical services," stated Gaur, directing officials and engineers to prioritize completion. He further instructed that a trial run of hospital services be conducted after April 1 to identify and address any operational gaps before the official launch.
Phased Implementation of Medical Services
The health department has outlined a structured approach for the hospital's operationalization. Following the launch of OPD services, inpatient (IP) services will be gradually introduced based on readiness assessments. This phased strategy aims to ensure quality care from the outset while allowing for systematic scaling of operations.
Critical infrastructure elements are receiving particular attention. Officials have been mandated to ensure uninterrupted oxygen supply and finalize arrangements for sanitation, security, and dietary services. Additionally, adequate hostel facilities for incoming MBBS students are being arranged to support both healthcare delivery and academic functions.
Staffing and Administrative Oversight
To address human resource requirements, Secretary Gaur has directed the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and the Directorate of Health (DH) to expedite the recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff needed for hospital services and academic operations. This dual focus on healthcare delivery and medical education underscores the institution's comprehensive role.
For enhanced monitoring and coordination, senior DME officials Venkatesh and Raman have been appointed as special officers. Their responsibilities include overseeing construction progress, staffing processes, and the overall service rollout, ensuring alignment with the established timeline.
Infrastructure and Accessibility Enhancements
Palnadu District Collector Kritika Shukla has issued instructions to relevant departments to guarantee uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the hospital premises. Furthermore, to improve patient and visitor accessibility, arrangements are being made to establish bus stops on both sides of the state highway near the hospital facility.
Secretary Gaur concluded by emphasizing strict adherence to all deadlines, announcing that he would personally review progress on a weekly basis. This hands-on approach reflects the government's commitment to delivering enhanced healthcare infrastructure to the people of Andhra Pradesh through the timely operationalization of the Piduguralla Government Teaching Hospital.
