A tragic incident occurred in Patan town on Wednesday afternoon when a woman police constable lost her life after an air-conditioner blast sparked a fire at her residence. The deceased has been identified as Surekha Chaudhary, who was attached to the local intelligence bureau of Patan district.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, Chaudhary was alone at her home in Gayatri Flats near Padmanath Chowkdi when the explosion took place. She was resting in her room when the air-conditioner suddenly exploded, causing a major short-circuit. The ensuing fire spread rapidly, trapping her inside the room. Despite efforts, she succumbed to severe burns and was declared dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information, police and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at the spot and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and the subsequent fire. The body of the deceased was taken to Dharpur Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination.
