A tragic incident occurred in Alkodia village under Talera police station in Bundi district, Rajasthan, where a pack of stray dogs mauled a 9-year-old girl to death early Monday morning. The victim, identified as Rinku Bheel, daughter of Banshilal, was a Class 3 student at a local government school. Her family worked as daily wage laborers and lived in a hut in the village.
Details of the Incident
According to DSP Talera Rajesh Tailor, the girl had gone to an open field near her home for defecation when a pack of stray dogs attacked her brutally. The dogs mauled her body from multiple places, causing fatal injuries. On hearing her screams, family members rushed to the spot, but by then the dogs had inflicted severe wounds. The girl was immediately taken to the government community health center at Talera, where doctors declared her dead after a medical examination.
Response from Authorities
Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla, upon learning of the tragedy, visited the aggrieved family later that day to offer condolences. He handed over compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the family and assured an additional Rs 1 lakh through public funding. Birla also directed the Bundi district collector, who was present at the scene, to ensure the family receives adequate compensation as per government norms and benefits under schemes such as PM Awas Yojana. Furthermore, he instructed district authorities to implement preventive measures against future stray dog attacks.
Police Action
The police have registered a case of unnatural death for investigation. After conducting a postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members later in the day. Notably, a similar incident occurred in February this year in the same police station area, where a pack of stray dogs severely injured a minor girl at a government school in Sitapura.
This tragic event has once again highlighted the growing menace of stray dogs in rural areas and the need for effective measures to ensure public safety.
