Stray Dog Attack in Mhow Village Leaves Six Family Members Injured
A terrifying incident unfolded in Kewti village of Mhow tehsil early Saturday morning, resulting in six members of a single family sustaining serious injuries after being attacked by a stray dog. The entire episode was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the family's residence and quickly went viral across various social media platforms by the afternoon, sparking widespread concern and discussion.
Details of the Violent Attack
According to Mansur Patel, a member of the affected family who spoke to TOI, the family was gathered in the courtyard behind their house, enjoying a conversation after their morning tea, when the unprovoked attack occurred. A white-colored stray dog, commonly seen roaming the village, approached from the rear side and launched a sudden assault on one individual. As that person attempted to defend themselves, the aggressive canine turned its attention to another family member seated nearby.
The CCTV footage, which has been widely circulated, shows one of the victims desperately trying to protect themselves by holding up a plastic chair. However, the ferocious dog continued its relentless attack, ultimately breaking the chair in the process. The video vividly illustrates the chaos and fear experienced by the family during the harrowing ordeal.
Medical Response and Treatment
Dr. Mahendra Pathak of Mhow Civil Hospital confirmed to TOI that all six victims received immediate medical attention following the attack. Rabies vaccines were administered to each of the injured family members as a precautionary measure against potential infection from the stray dog. The hospital staff ensured thorough treatment to address their injuries and monitor for any complications.
This incident has raised significant concerns about public safety and the management of stray animals in rural and semi-urban areas. Local authorities are likely to face increased pressure to implement effective measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future, ensuring the well-being of residents in Mhow and surrounding regions.
