Chennai: Edwin George, an employee of a software company, has been arrested for cultivating a ganja plant at his residence in VOC Nagar. The ganja plant was seized, and police launched an inquiry to determine whether the accused had links to narcotics suppliers.

Details of the Incident

Following a tip-off that Edwin was growing a ganja plant on the balcony of his second-floor apartment, police searched the house and found a fully grown ganja plant on the balcony. Edwin told police that he was growing the plant for religious purposes and that he performed daily rituals to it.

Recovery of Home Guard Uniform

Police also recovered a Home Guard uniform from the house. On inquiry, Edwin George stated that he was associated with the Tamil Nadu Home Guard unit. The police are now investigating the source of the plant and any potential connections to drug trafficking networks.
