Punjab Health Minister Inspects Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana Camp in Patiala
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh conducted a visit to a camp established for the issuance of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana cards on Saturday, thoroughly reviewing its operations and progress. The camp was strategically organized at two prominent locations in Patiala: the Rajindra Gymkhana and the Maharani Club, facilitating easy access for residents.
Significant Financial Relief Under the Health Scheme
During his inspection, Dr Balbir Singh disclosed that in the last three months alone, beneficiaries have availed medical treatments worth an impressive Rs 3 crore under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. This scheme provides comprehensive free treatment coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per family, offering substantial financial protection against healthcare costs.
The minister emphasized the uniqueness of this initiative, stating that it has no parallel in any other state across India or anywhere else in the world. He highlighted that the Punjab government is delivering major relief to citizens through the systematic issuance of these health cards, which are designed to ensure universal healthcare access.
Collaborative Efforts and Community Engagement
Accompanied by Baltej Pannu, Dr Balbir Singh interacted with media personnel, praising the camp organized by advocate Harpal Juneja. He noted that the Maharani Club set a positive example by first securing cards for its staff, which has now encouraged members to come forward enthusiastically. More than 300 health cards have already been issued at this venue, reflecting strong community participation and trust in the scheme.
Ambitious Targets and Future Goals
Dr Balbir Singh outlined the government's ambitious target to issue health cards to three crore people in Punjab, with significant progress already made—40 lakh cards have been distributed to date. He appealed to all citizens to maximize their benefits from this transformative scheme, ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.
The minister credited the steady progress in Punjab's health, education, and employment sectors to the leadership of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Their vision aims to transform the state into "Rangla Punjab"—a vibrant and prosperous region where welfare schemes like the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana play a pivotal role in improving public well-being and reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses.
