Pregnant Woman Survives 20-Foot Fall, Gives Birth After Motorcycle Accident in Khargone

In a remarkable incident in Khargone district, a pregnant woman who fell nearly 20 feet from a culvert following a motorcycle collision was rescued by passers-by and later delivered a healthy baby girl at a government hospital on Friday night. The accident occurred near Sirwel village under Bhagwanpura block, highlighting both the dangers of rural road travel and the swift community response that saved lives.

Details of the Accident

The accident took place at around 5 pm when Hiralal, a resident of Mohradi village, was taking his pregnant wife, Peru Bai, and his sister-in-law to a government hospital in Sirwel on a motorcycle. Other family members were following them separately. As they reached a small bridge area known as Jhula Pulia in Sirwel, a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction collided with their bike.

The impact was so severe that all three riders, along with the motorcycle, were thrown off the bridge, falling nearly 20 feet. The motorcycle landed on rocks below, while the three riders fell into a water-filled pit. Miraculously, despite the presence of stones and sharp rocks at the spot, the trio escaped with only minor injuries, a fact that local officials described as fortunate given the circumstances.

Rescue and Immediate Response

Local residents, including Vikram Thakur and Ramesh Solanki, who were passing by, noticed the accident and rushed to help. With the assistance of the victims' relatives, they managed to pull the pregnant woman out from below the bridge and move her to a safe location. They then informed Umariya panchayat secretary Praveen Jaiswal about the incident.

Jaiswal quickly reached the spot along with villager Bathiya Kanase in a four-wheeler. With the help of other locals, the injured were transported to Sirwel hospital for initial medical attention. The coordinated effort by the community ensured that the victims received prompt care, which was crucial given the pregnant woman's condition.

Birth of a Healthy Baby Girl

Shortly after being admitted to the hospital, the pregnant woman, Peru Bai, went into labor and delivered a healthy baby girl weighing 2.4 kg. According to Khargone Chief Medical and Health Officer Daulat Singh Chauhan, both mother and newborn were in stable condition following the delivery.

After initial treatment at Sirwel hospital, they were referred to the district hospital for further care, where they are currently undergoing treatment and reported to be doing well. This positive outcome underscores the resilience of the mother and the effectiveness of the emergency medical response in the region.

Community and Official Reactions

The incident has drawn attention to road safety issues in rural areas of Khargone district, where infrastructure like small bridges can pose risks, especially during accidents. Local authorities have praised the quick actions of the passers-by and villagers, emphasizing how community vigilance can make a significant difference in emergency situations.

Officials also noted that the minor injuries sustained by all three riders were a stroke of luck, considering the height of the fall and the hazardous terrain. The story serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the need for improved road safety measures in such regions.

As the mother and baby recover, the community remains hopeful for their full recovery, celebrating the birth as a symbol of hope amidst adversity. This event highlights the critical role of local healthcare facilities and the spirit of solidarity in times of crisis.
