Noida Sector 99 Residents Raise Alarm Over Sewage-Mixed Water Supply
Residents of Low Income Group flats in Noida's Sector 99 have voiced serious concerns about clogged sewers and a dirty water supply. They report foul-smelling water that appears mixed with sewage for several days now. This situation has created significant distress among the local community.
Residents Write to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
On Tuesday, frustrated residents decided to take their complaints directly to the top. They wrote a formal letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In their communication, they highlighted the potential health hazards arising from the contaminated water supply. The sector houses approximately 3,000 people across 608 units in 38 different blocks.
Widespread Contamination Across Multiple Blocks
According to residents, over a dozen blocks are currently experiencing these problems. The issues occur both in the morning and evening water supply. Narottam Sharma, the President of the Resident Welfare Association for the sector, detailed the affected areas in his letter to the CM.
He specifically mentioned blocks 1, 21, 33, and 38 among others. Sharma stated that homes in these blocks face direct contamination, making their water unsafe for any use. Residents have observed cloudy water with an unpleasant odor coming from their taps.
Significant Health Risks Identified
The contaminated water poses serious health dangers. Sharma warned about potential outbreaks of diseases like typhoid, diarrhea, and hepatitis. These conditions can spread quickly when water quality deteriorates. The community fears an impending health crisis if authorities do not address the situation promptly.
Root Causes of the Problem
Sharma explained the underlying reasons for this contamination. Old and damaged sewer lines represent one major factor. Inadequate connections to the main water supply system contribute significantly to the problem. These infrastructure failures allow sewage to mix with drinking water.
Previous Complaints Yield Only Temporary Fixes
Residents have filed numerous complaints with the Noida Authority about these issues. However, they claim the responses have been inadequate. Only temporary fixes have been implemented so far. The root problems remain unaddressed, leaving residents' well-being in continuous jeopardy.
Formal Requests for Permanent Solutions
The RWA's letter includes specific demands for resolution. They have requested that the Chief Minister instruct the Noida Authority to take several important actions:

- Replace outdated and damaged infrastructure completely
- Ensure secure connections to the main water supply network

Sharma expressed the community's current position clearly. "Our hopes are now pinned on the CM's intervention," he stated. Residents believe this high-level attention will lead to a permanent resolution. They want to safeguard their health and restore confidence in their water supply system.
