A devastating fire triggered by an LPG cylinder blast ripped through a tea stall near the Iskcon flyover on SG Road in Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening, resulting in the complete destruction of nine two-wheelers. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, according to officials.
Incident Details
The fire broke out at approximately 7:50 PM at a tea kiosk situated on the service road opposite Wide Angle near Iskcon Circle. The stall, which was reportedly operated by a differently abled individual, was closed at the time of the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that an LPG gas leak inside the kiosk led to the cylinder blast, which rapidly escalated into a massive fire. The flames quickly spread to nearby vehicles parked at the municipal corporation’s pay-and-park facility adjacent to the stall.
Damage and Response
Fire officials reported that four scooters and five motorcycles parked near the kiosk were completely charred before firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. Thick smoke engulfed the area, forcing authorities to temporarily shut down the service road to mitigate further risks and facilitate firefighting operations.
Two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene after local residents alerted emergency services. Firefighters worked diligently to douse the flames through a sustained operation and also secured the leaking gas connection to prevent any additional explosions.
Officials confirmed that the kiosk had been placed at the parking facility operated near the multiplex area on SG Highway. The cause of the gas leak is still under investigation.
