Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Well Near Chennai
A tragic incident unfolded near Chennai on Saturday morning when a 37-year-old woman and her eight-year-old daughter were found dead in a well. The police identified the deceased as Geetha and her daughter Subashree.
Details of the Incident
Geetha was separated from her husband and lived with her young daughter. Family members reported that she faced significant mental stress due to the separation and ongoing divorce proceedings. During the Pongal holidays, Geetha visited Eechankaranai to stay with her father and daughter.
On Saturday night, after dinner, Geetha and Subashree went to sleep. Around midnight, they went missing from the house. Geetha's father searched for them throughout the night with help from local residents, but they could not locate the pair.
Discovery and Response
On Sunday morning, villagers discovered the bodies of Geetha and Subashree in a farmer's well located about 500 meters from the house. The local residents immediately informed the Tirukazhukundram police and the fire and rescue services.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Both bodies were sent to the Chengalpet government hospital for a postmortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that Geetha may have died by suicide, though further investigation is ongoing.
