Man Arrested for Raping 13-Year-Old Girl in Palghar

A 45-year-old man was arrested by the Kasa police in Palghar district on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl under the pretext of treating her for continuous bleeding during menstruation. The accused, identified as Shivram Parshu Savar, has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections related to rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the minor girl had been suffering from prolonged menstrual bleeding. On April 30, her family approached the accused, who claimed he could cure her using traditional remedies. The accused later called the girl to a location near Chari Pavan, close to Kasa, around midnight on May 4, under the pretense of performing a ritual and administering medicine. He allegedly instructed the people accompanying the girl to remain inside the vehicle before taking her into a nearby forest area, where he raped her.

Threats and Delay in Reporting

The accused also threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident, which initially kept her silent. However, the victim later informed her family members, leading to a complaint being lodged at the Kasa police station on Monday. The police swiftly arrested the accused, and investigations are ongoing.
