Inspection at Tajpur Road Dump Site
Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar conducted an inspection of Ludhiana's primary garbage dump located on Tajpur Road on Thursday. The visit was part of the ongoing Mission Clean Punjab initiative aimed at improving solid waste management in the industrial city.
Focus on Legacy Waste Disposal
During the inspection, Alankar reviewed the progress of solid waste management projects designed to dispose of approximately 20 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste, in addition to the daily fresh waste generated by the city. He issued clear directives to officials to expedite these projects without any hindrance and to ensure that the approach road to the dump site is properly maintained.
Monsoon Preparedness and Cleanliness Drive
Alankar stated that various initiatives are being implemented to ensure cleanliness across Ludhiana. With the monsoon season approaching, advance steps are being taken to prepare for rainfall and mitigate potential issues. He emphasized that senior officials are regularly monitoring the situation on the ground and collecting feedback from residents to improve services.
Appeal to Residents
The MC commissioner appealed to residents to support the authorities by not dumping waste in the open. He urged public cooperation to maintain cleanliness in the city. According to Alankar, the success of these efforts depends on active participation from the community.
