A tragic incident occurred in Laduna village under Sitamau police station area of Mandsaur district on Friday, where three members of a family and a domestic help sustained severe burn injuries after an LPG cylinder leakage triggered a massive fire. The accident took place at the residence of 45-year-old Jagdish Rathore when a gas cylinder was being replaced.
Sequence of Events
According to sources, when the gas in the old cylinder exhausted, Jagdish connected a new cylinder. As he broke the seal and removed the cap, gas began to leak rapidly under high pressure. The leaked LPG immediately caught fire, allegedly after the gas stove was lit, engulfing the entire kitchen in flames.
Victims and Rescue
The victims include Jagdish, his wife Radhabai, their 15-year-old daughter Preeti, and 32-year-old domestic help Parmeshwar Bhil. All four suffered severe burn injuries. Neighbors rushed to the spot upon hearing the screams. The villagers procured fire extinguishers from a nearby petrol pump and managed to douse the flames, preventing a potential cylinder explosion.
Medical Treatment
The victims were initially taken to the Sitamau community health centre, from where they were referred to the Mandsaur District Hospital. Later, they were shifted to a private hospital for further treatment.
