Tragic Lightning Strike Claims Two Lives in Bijnor During Sugarcane Harvest
A sudden and severe weather event turned deadly in Bijnor district on Friday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others. The incident occurred in Gajana–Bagadpur village, located under the jurisdiction of the Dehat police station.

The lightning strike happened around 11 AM, precisely as the victims were engaged in harvesting sugarcane. The region was experiencing abrupt and intense weather changes at the time, characterized by strong winds, heavy rainfall, thunder, and frequent lightning. Victims Identified: Farm Owners and Migrant Laborers
Officials have confirmed the identities of those affected by this tragic event. The deceased have been identified as Dharmendra Singh, aged 45, and Naresh Kumar, aged 30. The injured individuals are Jaiveer Singh, 38, and Bhure Khan, 47.
Dharmendra Singh and Jaiveer Singh were farm owners, while Naresh Kumar and Bhure Khan worked as laborers for Jaiveer. Notably, Kumar and Khan were migrant workers originally from Bihar, highlighting the often precarious conditions faced by seasonal agricultural laborers.
Immediate Response and Administrative Action
Alert villagers quickly notified authorities about the incident. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently sent for postmortem examination as part of standard procedure.
SP Amit Kumar Anand stated, "The process to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased has been initiated by the district administration." This indicates that official support mechanisms are being activated to help the bereaved families cope with their loss.

Dharmendra Singh is survived by his wife and two children, who now face an uncertain future without their primary breadwinner.
