A 20-year-old man reportedly died by suicide late Saturday in the Sen Paschim Para police station area of Kanpur. The incident occurred due to mounting debts and losses incurred in gambling, according to police reports.

The deceased was found hanging on Sunday morning by his elder brother. Family members informed that the young man was addicted to gambling and had borrowed money from several friends, losing approximately Rs 1 lakh. Creditors continuously demanded repayment, causing him immense stress.
Sequence of Events
On Saturday, the victim refused to eat and locked himself inside his room. On Sunday morning, he was discovered hanging. Station in-charge of Sen Paschim Para, Pradeep Kumar Singh, stated that family members provided information about the young man being under stress over losing money in gambling and borrowed money. Action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.
