Kanpur District Admin Issues Heatwave Advisory, Urges Caution
Kanpur Heatwave Alert: Admin Advises Caution

The district administration of Kanpur has issued an advisory urging residents to remain vigilant amid scorching temperatures and an intense heatwave. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh emphasized that taking the heatwave lightly could prove dangerous. He stressed that special care is essential during this season, particularly for children, the elderly, farmers, and livestock.

Precautionary Measures for the Public

Singh appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. When stepping out, individuals should cover their heads with a towel, cap, or cloth and wear light-colored cotton clothing. To prevent dehydration, it is crucial to consume water, lemon water, buttermilk, and other fluids regularly.

If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, vomiting, high fever, excessive sweating, or a feeling of weakness, do not dismiss them as normal. Seek immediate medical assistance. Keep your homes well-ventilated, and do not allow children or the elderly to remain in the sun for extended periods.

Advice for Farmers

The district magistrate specifically appealed to farmers to avoid working in fields during the afternoon hours. He advised them to ensure the availability of water, shade, and ORS at the fields, and to carry out their work only during the morning or evening. In the event of sudden fatigue or dizziness, they should immediately stop working and rest in the shade.

General Safety Tips

Singh stated that caution is the most effective measure to prevent heatstroke. People should use an umbrella, a hat, or a cloth towel when stepping out in the sun. Additionally, they should refrain from consuming fried and heavy foods. The administration also reminded residents to check local updates on gold and silver rates, bank holidays, public holidays, AQI, weather, and fuel prices in Kanpur.
