A tragic incident unfolded at a resort in Jaisalmer's Sam sand dunes late Sunday night. A 37-year-old tourist from Indore died of a suspected heart attack. The man has been identified as Rahul Malvi, a resident of the airport area in Indore.
Events Leading to the Tragedy
Rahul Malvi arrived at the Sam sand dunes resort with five companions on Sunday night. The group had visited Khatu Shyamji earlier that day and then travelled from Jaisalmer to Sam. According to resort operator Prem, the six friends reached the resort while a cultural programme was already in progress.
After checking in and leaving their luggage, the group went directly to watch the cultural programme. Eyewitnesses reported that during the programme, Rahul suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious on the ground.
Immediate Response and Medical Attention
Rahul's friend Rajesh immediately administered CPR in an attempt to revive him. The companions then rushed Rahul to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer. However, Dr Bhagwan Singh Rajpurohit at the hospital confirmed that Rahul was already dead when he was brought in late Sunday night.
The doctor conducted an ECG and informed the police about the incident. The body was subsequently kept in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Dr Rajpurohit stated that the cause of death appeared to be a heart attack, though he emphasized that a proper post-mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause.
Family's Decision and Police Involvement
Sam police station in-charge Prahlad provided further details about the case. He mentioned that the deceased's family members arrived at Jaisalmer on Monday evening. In a surprising turn of events, the family refused to get a post-mortem conducted on Rahul's body.
Rajesh, Rahul's friend who witnessed the incident, described it as what appeared to be a silent heart attack. He noted that Rahul had felt dizzy just before collapsing during the cultural programme.
The resort operator expressed shock at the sudden tragedy. He confirmed that the group had just arrived and was watching the programme when the unfortunate incident occurred. The local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this sudden death of a tourist enjoying what should have been a memorable desert experience.
