Illegal Pathology Lab Sealed in Pilibhit's Barkhera

Pilibhit: Health authorities and local administration sealed an illegal pathology lab that had been operating without a qualified pathologist near Tazia Ground in Barkhera town. Acting on orders from the sub-divisional magistrate and the medical flying squad, a team led by Dr Lokesh Kumar, in-charge of Barkhera Community Health Centre (CHC), and the Nayab Tehsildar conducted a raid on 'Isba Pathology' on May 27.

Lab Owner Fails to Produce Documents

During the inspection, the lab owner, Mohammad Irfan of Bareilly, failed to produce valid registration documents. Following a formal complaint, Barkhera police registered a case against Irfan on June 1 under Section 15(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, according to SHO Satyendra Kumar.

Authorities Take Strict Action

The sealing of the lab is part of a broader crackdown on unlicensed medical facilities in the region. Dr Lokesh Kumar emphasized that operating a pathology lab without a qualified pathologist poses serious risks to public health, as it can lead to misdiagnosis and improper treatment. The authorities have warned that similar actions will be taken against other illegal establishments.
