Hyderabad Tragedy: Depressed Mother Kills Son, Then Dies by Suicide in Vikarabad
A deeply distressing incident unfolded in the Yalal area of Vikarabad district on Friday evening, where a 28-year-old woman struggling with severe depression took the life of her six-year-old son before ending her own. The tragic event occurred around 5 PM, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Background of the Family
M Gouramma, the deceased woman, had married Feroz approximately eight years ago, and the couple had a son together. However, their marital life took a turn for the worse three years ago when they separated. Following the separation, Gouramma moved to her brother's house, where she lived until her death.
Ever since her divorce, Gouramma had been grappling with profound depression. She increasingly isolated herself, preferring solitude and avoiding social interactions altogether. Her mental health struggles were compounded by physical ailments, as she frequently complained of headaches and stomach pain, for which she regularly consumed medication.
The Fateful Discovery
On Friday evening, Gouramma's brother went to check on her in her room, only to find it locked from the inside. Despite repeated knocking and calls, there was no response from within. Growing concerned, the family forced the door open, uncovering the horrifying scene.
Inside, they discovered that Gouramma had taken her own life, and tragically, her young son had also been killed. No suicide note was found at the scene, leaving authorities and family members to piece together the motives behind this heartbreaking act.

Family members and police speculate that Gouramma's actions may have been driven by a fear of leaving her son alone in the world after her death. "Perhaps, for this reason, she might have killed her son first and then died by suicide," stated the investigating officers from the Yalal police station.
Gouramma, who worked as a laborer to support herself, had no history of foul play suspected by her family. The local police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS and Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNNS, launching a thorough probe into the incident.
