Gurgaon Nurse Dies by Suicide, Police Suspect Mental Distress
A 33-year-old woman, employed as nursing staff at a prominent private hospital in Gurgaon, died by suicide at her residence in the Jharsa area on Tuesday. Police officials have indicated that mental distress is a likely factor in this tragic incident.

The deceased has been identified as Anuradha Chauhan, originally from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. She had been working at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon and had relocated to the city approximately three months ago with her husband and their one-year-old son. The couple had been married for two years and were residing in a rented accommodation at the time of the incident.
Discovery of the Incident and Police Response
According to police reports, Anuradha was alone at home when the incident occurred. Upon returning, her husband discovered her hanging inside the house and immediately alerted the authorities. A police team swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated standard investigative procedures.
No suicide note was recovered during the initial search of the premises. Police stated that there were no visible signs of foul play, and statements were recorded from family members and neighbors as part of the ongoing investigation.
Family Statements and Investigation Status
An officer involved in the case revealed that the parents of the deceased informed the police that Anuradha had been suffering from depression for an extended period. They did not suspect any foul play in her death. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed in the matter.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and was subsequently handed over to the family. Police have confirmed that the autopsy report will be thoroughly examined alongside other evidence to complete the inquiry. Legal proceedings under Section 194 (inquest) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been formally initiated.
