A 28-year-old Ugandan woman was placed in isolation in Bengaluru after airport authorities detected mild symptoms during routine Ebola screening. Although she reportedly did not exhibit fever, officials decided to shift her to the Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Indiranagar when she developed body ache.
Testing and Monitoring
Samples from the patient have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for laboratory analysis. Repeat tests are also planned to ensure accuracy. The case comes amid a global Ebola emergency alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), involving Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Enhanced Surveillance
In response to the alert, Karnataka has intensified surveillance, quarantine protocols, and monitoring measures for all incoming international travellers. Health authorities are on high alert and are coordinating with airport officials to screen passengers arriving from affected regions.
The patient remains under observation, and further updates will be provided once test results are confirmed. The state government has urged the public not to panic and to follow health advisories.
