Delhi Weather Update: Pleasant Winter Morning with Improved AQI and Clear Skies Forecast

Residents of Delhi woke up to a refreshing and pleasant winter morning on Thursday, with the city experiencing a notable improvement in air quality. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) has shifted from the very poor category to poor, offering some relief from the hazardous pollution levels that have plagued the capital in recent days.

IMD Weather Forecast for Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted clear skies and shallow fog for the day. According to the latest weather bulletin, the sky will remain mainly clear with sustained surface winds blowing at speeds of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour. Shallow fog is expected at many places, with moderate fog likely at isolated locations during the morning hours.

The maximum temperature is predicted to range between 21°C and 23°C, while the minimum temperature will hover between 8°C and 10°C. Both temperatures are near normal for this time of the year, contributing to the comfortable winter conditions.

Air Quality Index (AQI) Improvement

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicates that the average AQI in Delhi stood at 279 at 6:00 AM, marking a significant improvement from the previous day's very poor level of 339. This shift from very poor to poor air quality is a positive development for the city's residents.

Among the 39 monitoring stations across Delhi, 18 stations registered very poor AQI levels, while the remaining reported poor air quality. Notably, locations such as Lodhi Road, Narela, and Dilshad Garden recorded the best air quality today, falling into the moderate category.

Impact on Flight Operations

Visibility at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was reported at 1500 meters, ensuring no disruptions to flight operations. The improved visibility and weather conditions have facilitated smooth air travel, with no delays or cancellations reported due to fog or poor air quality.

Delhi Weather Forecast for the Next 5 Days

The IMD has predicted partly cloudy weather conditions and shallow fog during the morning hours for the next five days. No weather alerts have been issued, indicating stable and manageable weather patterns in the coming days. Residents can expect similar conditions with slight variations in temperature and fog intensity.

Mechanized Cleaning Initiative in Delhi

In a related development, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman, IAS Keshav Chandra, inspected a cleaning machine at Kaka Nagar on February 4. This initiative marks Delhi's first residential colony to adopt a fully mechanized and dust-free cleaning system, aimed at reducing pollution and improving overall air quality in the area.

This mechanized cleaning system is part of broader efforts to combat air pollution and enhance the living conditions in Delhi. By adopting such innovative solutions, the city aims to address the persistent issue of dust and particulate matter that contributes to poor air quality.

Overall, Delhi's weather today offers a welcome respite with pleasant winter conditions and improved air quality. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially during morning hours when fog may affect visibility.
