Trichy: An 18-year-old girl died allegedly due to a drug overdose in a lodge near Trichy railway station. Police have detained two men in connection with the incident.
Incident Details
According to police sources, the victim was in a relationship with Saddam Hussain, a 19-year-old electrician from Ariyamangalam. Both were reportedly addicted to drugs. The girl had completed her Class 12 education, while Hussain worked as an electrician. Despite objections from the girl's parents, the couple continued to meet.
On Sunday evening, the couple booked a room in a lodge near Trichy railway station. On Monday afternoon, they allegedly injected drugs intravenously. However, the girl overdosed and lost consciousness.
Emergency Response
Hussain called his friend Shaik Abdulla for help, and they rushed the girl to the Trichy government hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead on arrival and informed the police.
Cantonment police detained Hussain and Abdulla. They registered a case and initiated an investigation. An autopsy has been arranged to ascertain the exact cause of death.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of drug abuse among youth. Authorities urge parents and guardians to monitor their children's activities and seek help if they suspect substance abuse.
