Mass Participation at Mysuru Palace
Over 8,000 people gathered at the Mysuru Palace premises on Sunday morning to perform yoga on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day. The event, themed 'Yoga for healthy aging', was organized by the Mysuru district administration and the Department of Ayush (DoA). The session began at 7:10 am and saw enthusiastic participation from citizens, officials, and elected representatives.
Key Dignitaries and Participants
Among the notable attendees were Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore N K Loknath and Registrar M K Savitha, who performed yoga at a separate event organized by the University of Mysore at Maharaja College cricket grounds. The main event at the Mysuru Palace premises also witnessed the presence of officers and elected representatives joining the mass yoga session.
Community Engagement in Rural Areas
In addition to the main event, yoga sessions were held at the Ayush Arogya Mandira at Kempisiddanahundi village in Nanjangud taluk, where people practiced yoga as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations. The district administration ensured widespread participation across urban and rural areas.
