Thousands of Women to Drive for Health Awareness in National Car Rally on Women's Day 2026
On March 8, 2026, coinciding with International Women's Day, a massive nationwide initiative will see thousands of women across India take to the roads. The 'IIFL Drive with Purpose – National Car Rally' is dedicated to spreading crucial awareness about thalassemia and cancer while encouraging communities to prioritize preventive healthcare measures.
Nationwide Mobilization Across 90+ Cities
Organized by the JITO Ladies Wing, this ambitious rally will mobilize participants across more than 90 cities throughout India, with over 50 cars participating in each urban center. The scale of this initiative is expected to make it one of the country's largest synchronised health awareness car rallies, with organizers aiming to secure a prestigious place in the India Book of Records for this remarkable achievement.
The campaign places strong emphasis on prevention, early detection, and informed health choices. In numerous cities, doctor-led awareness sessions will guide families about thalassemia carrier screening, early signs of cancer, and the vital importance of regular health check-ups. Select locations will also host practical health screening initiatives, ensuring that awareness translates into real and meaningful action within communities.
Community Leadership and Vision
Vijay Bhandari, President of JITO Apex, emphasized the societal importance of this initiative, stating: "Health awareness is one of the most important responsibilities of a progressive society. This rally demonstrates how communities can come together to promote prevention, encourage timely medical care, and build a healthier future for all."
Mahaveer Chaplot, Secretary In-Charge of JITO Ladies Wing, highlighted that this nationwide rally reflects the strong commitment of women to spread awareness about thalassemia and cancer. He added that the initiative specifically aims to encourage prevention and inspire society toward better health practices.
Sonali Dugar, DIC Apex JLW, noted the broader impact: "When women unite with a purpose, the impact extends far beyond the roads themselves. This rally is fundamentally about creating awareness, inspiring concrete action, and encouraging communities to take charge of their health destinies."
Creating a Healthier India
Sheetal Dugar, National Chairperson of JLW, articulated the dual objectives: "Creating awareness about thalassemia can help build a thalassemia-free India, while early detection of cancer can save countless precious lives. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Apex Working Committee members and all Chapter Chairpersons and Chief Secretaries for their dedication and tireless efforts in making this national movement possible."
The initiative is spearheaded by Rachna Kanugo, Project Convener for Health & Nutrition, who has been actively working to make this rally a landmark awareness campaign with lasting impact.
Flagship Event and Celebrity Support
The flagship national event will take place in the North Zone, where the rally will be ceremonially flagged off in the presence of dignitaries, sponsors, and community leaders. This ceremony symbolizes a unified national commitment toward building a healthier and more aware society. The North Zone event is led by Chairman Raman Jain and North JLW Convener Surbhi Jain.
Adding significant inspiration to the event will be the presence of Lisa Ray, acclaimed actor and breast cancer survivor. Her participation underscores the powerful messages of strength, awareness, and the life-saving importance of early detection that form the core of this initiative.
