Mangaluru is set to celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day with grand events on June 21. Around 1,500 people, including students and government officials, are expected to participate in the celebrations at the Praja Soudha in Padil from 5 am to 7 am.
Main Celebrations at Mini Town Hall
The district administration will host the main event titled 'Yoga Sangama' at the Mini Town Hall. Public representatives, government officials, and students will take part in a 45-minute yoga demonstration guided by yoga instructor Gopalakrishna Delampady, as announced by Additional Deputy Commissioner K Raju during a media briefing on Thursday.
Health Checkup Counters and Guinness World Record Attempt
Basic health checkup counters have been arranged at the venue. Additionally, the Ministry of AYUSH is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous participation in an online yoga session from 6:15 am to 7:35 am on June 14.
Pre-Yoga Day Programmes
All AYUSH colleges in the district have commenced yoga training as part of pre-Yoga Day activities. Yoga trainers from AYUSH colleges have been deployed to health institutions across various districts under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to provide training. Various yoga competitions have been organized in all AYUSH colleges of the district. Awareness programmes, including social media reels, have been launched to promote the event.
Organizations Involved
Organizations such as Delampady Yoga Pratishthan, Avishkar Yoga, and Patanjali Yoga Academy are already providing yoga training to thousands of participants.
