The Jaipur traffic police have initiated a new awareness campaign aimed at encouraging two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, particularly those with ISI certification, in an effort to reduce fatalities resulting from road accidents. The campaign was officially launched on Monday near the Yadgar headquarters of the traffic wing.
Campaign Inauguration
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Yogesh Goyal inaugurated the drive, emphasizing the administration's commitment to preventing avoidable deaths on the roads. He stated, "The state government is extremely sensitive regarding the issue of road accidents. In this context, the traffic police regularly conduct awareness drives to prevent such mishaps. The fatality rate in accidents is significantly higher when two-wheeler riders do not wear helmets, and the role of a helmet is paramount when it comes to saving a rider's life."
On-Site Counseling and Helmet Distribution
At the Yadgar intersection, traffic personnel stopped riders who were not wearing helmets and provided them with counseling on safe riding practices. The briefing covered the risks of head injuries and the importance of using certified protective gear. Following the educational session, officers distributed ISI-marked helmets to the riders to reinforce compliance and promote safer commuting habits.
The campaign is part of a broader effort by the Jaipur traffic police to enhance road safety and reduce the number of fatalities caused by two-wheeler accidents. By combining education with the distribution of certified helmets, the authorities aim to instill a culture of safety among riders.
