Ayush Minister Lauds Medical Education Transformation at Pune

Pune: Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, on Thursday praised the rapid transformation of medical education in India, highlighting improved infrastructure and a renewed focus on quality and inclusivity. He spoke at Bharati Vidyapeeth's 27th convocation ceremony, where author, philanthropist, and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty was conferred with the Doctor of Letters (honoris causa).

Murty's Message to Graduates

In her online address, Murty urged students to embrace both success and failure as integral parts of life. She emphasized the importance of integrity, compassion, and resilience, stating that true achievement lies not only in personal success but in uplifting others.

Convocation Highlights

Degrees were awarded to 9,066 graduates during the ceremony. Additionally, 140 students received PhD degrees, and 27 students were honored with gold medals for academic excellence.

Speaking to students, Jadhav said India's healthcare education ecosystem is undergoing a significant shift, driven by policy reforms and increased institutional capacity. He noted that the country is producing more medical professionals who are globally competent and socially responsible. "India's strength lies in its youth and its institutions," he said, adding that graduating students will play a crucial role in strengthening the healthcare system.

University Progress Report

The ceremony was attended by Chancellor Shivajirao Kadam, Vice-Chancellor Vivek Saoji, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Vishwajeet Kadam, among others. Saoji presented a comprehensive report on the university's progress. He said the institution has established academic collaborations with over 200 national and international organizations. The university has secured research funding exceeding Rs 28 crore from reputed agencies this year.

Murty encouraged students to remain grounded and maintain their values while pursuing professional excellence. "Life is neither a continuous journey of success nor is it defined by failure alone. It is a balance of both, together with the ability to learn from each experience," she said.
