Varanasi: As temperatures soar and heatwave conditions prevail, health experts are recommending Ayurvedic practices to stay healthy during the intense summer. Prof. Anand Chaudhary from the Department of Ras Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS-BHU, has shared traditional Ayurvedic remedies to help people combat the heat.

Traditional Summer Beverages as Medicine

Prof. Chaudhary emphasized that certain traditional summer drinks are as effective as medicine. Aam Panna, made from raw mangoes, is considered the most potent remedy against heatstroke. It helps maintain electrolyte balance in the body. Similarly, Bel ka Sharbat cools the stomach and prevents dehydration. Sattu solution provides instant energy and offers cooling relief.

Common Summer Health Issues

Heatstroke, dehydration, dizziness, and fatigue are common during summer. According to Prof. Chaudhary, simple home remedies from Ayurveda not only protect against heatstroke but also keep the body cool and refreshed. Incorporating these remedies into daily routines can significantly reduce the effects of heat and maintain bodily balance.

Kitchen Ingredients for Relief

Several kitchen ingredients are effective in providing relief from heat. Coriander seed water and mint sharbat or chutney reduce the body's internal heat. Drinking water soaked overnight with fennel seeds in the morning calms Pitta Dosha and keeps the body cool. For excessive heat, applying sandalwood paste on the forehead and chest offers immediate relief.

Prof. Chaudhary concluded that the home remedies described in Ayurveda for protection against heat and heatstroke provide affordable and effective relief to the common people during this intense summer.
