Women Dominate Digital Astrology Platforms in India, Study Finds
A comprehensive user behavior analysis conducted by iMeUsWe, India's pioneering lineage technology platform, has uncovered a significant trend: women are emerging as the predominant users of digital astrology services across the nation. The research indicates that young women are increasingly leveraging astrology not merely as a traditional belief system but as a structured framework for guidance when facing major life decisions.
Women Account for Over 60% of Digital Astrology Users
The detailed analysis of astrology users on the platform reveals that women constitute a substantial 60.3% of the total user base. This majority highlights a clear demographic shift in how astrology is being accessed and utilized in the digital age, moving beyond traditional consultations to technology-enabled platforms.
Young Women Drive Highest Engagement Levels
The study identifies that the most robust engagement originates from younger female users. Specifically, 63% of women astrology users belong to the 18–30 age group. Within this cohort, the 25–30 segment stands out as the single largest, accounting for 41% of all female users on the platform.
This life stage frequently involves critical transitions such as career planning, relationship decisions, and marriage considerations. The data suggests that digital astrology is being actively employed as a guidance tool to navigate these significant milestones, reflecting a practical application of traditional knowledge.
Relationship Concerns Dominate Consultation Themes
The analysis further uncovers distinct patterns in the topics women seek astrological guidance for. Relationship-related concerns overwhelmingly dominate the consultation themes. Nearly 70% of women's consultations focus on relationship or marriage decisions, underscoring the enduring role of astrology in personal and family life choices.
Regional Patterns in Digital Astrology Engagement
The study also maps regional variations in digital astrology engagement across India. North India leads with the largest share of consultations at 35.5%, followed by West and Central India. Collectively, these regions contribute 65.6% of total consultations, indicating particularly strong participation.
Eastern India accounts for 17.7% of consultations, while South India contributes 13.9%, demonstrating growing adoption and interest across diverse geographical areas of the country.
Evolving Engagement with Traditional Knowledge Systems
Vivek Desai, Co-Founder & Chairman of iMeUsWe, commented on the findings, stating, "Young women today are engaging with traditional knowledge systems in more thoughtful ways. Astrology is no longer just about belief; it is becoming a tool for reflection during key life decisions. When this is viewed alongside family lineage and heritage, it creates a deeper understanding of identity, helping individuals connect their past with the choices they make for the future."
While astrology has maintained cultural relevance in India for centuries, the study indicates that the nature of engagement is evolving. Young users are increasingly accessing astrology through digital platforms, merging traditional belief systems with technology-enabled consultations and personalized insights.
As digital platforms broaden access to traditional knowledge systems, astrology is emerging as a structured guidance tool for navigating both personal and professional transitions. This shift represents a modern adaptation of ancient practices, tailored to contemporary needs and accessible through innovative technological solutions.
