Prajakta Koli made a bold career move by signing on for Netflix's series 'Single Papa' without ever reading the script. The popular actor and digital creator described this decision as a pure gut call. She based it entirely on her confidence in the talented team behind the production.
From YouTube Stardom to Multi-Format Success
Now, with the second season officially greenlit, Koli is reflecting on her remarkable professional evolution. Her work has grown significantly from YouTube videos to published books, feature films, and web series. She feels the current entertainment landscape offers creators unprecedented freedom to choose projects boldly across different formats and languages.
Breaking Medium Boundaries
According to her interview with Mid-Day, Prajakta Koli credits digital platforms for erasing rigid boundaries between creative mediums. She says OTT services have made the transition from online content to films and television series feel completely seamless for artists.
"It's such a beautiful time to be an artiste in our country, especially at our age, because suddenly those guardrails are really low," Koli explained enthusiastically. "There's a whole pool of content to explore. And suddenly the agency is with the audience."
She emphasized that acting has become central to her broader creative journey. "It's a very important part of the whole picture," she stated clearly.
Expanding Her Creative Horizons
Over recent years, Koli has successfully expanded her repertoire far beyond YouTube. She has written a book, developed scripts, and acted in numerous web shows and Hindi films. Her entry into Marathi cinema represented a particularly personal milestone.
The actor made her debut in her mother tongue with the film 'Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam'. This musical production was released on January 1st. "My Marathi movie released on January 1, titled Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam. It's a musical and my first," she shared proudly.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast including Amey Wagh, Siddharth Chandekar, and Kshitee Jog alongside Koli.
The 'Single Papa' Journey
Prajakta Koli is currently preparing for the second season of 'Single Papa', which has received official approval from Netflix. She describes her entire experience with the show as joyful from the very beginning.
"Even before I got to reading the script, I knew that I had to do the show," Koli recalled with a smile.
Trust in Collaboration
The collaboration itself ultimately sealed the deal for her. "After all, Netflix and Shashank Khaitan were making it together," she added, highlighting her trust in the platform and director.
Koli auditioned for the role in November and discovered the full cast months later. "I auditioned in November, and I think in May I found out Kunal Kemmu, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa sir, and Ayesha Raza Mishra were also part of it," she revealed.
She remembers the atmosphere on set with genuine fondness. "The set was a fun place to be; there was no reason for me to not do this," Koli concluded, emphasizing the positive working environment that matched her initial instinct about the project.
