Dunk and Egg Actors Find Themselves in Westeros Characters
Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell bring a fresh breath of air to the Game of Thrones universe with their roles in 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'. The series shifts focus from dragons and political intrigue to themes of hope and heroism. At its core lies the charming duo of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.
Real Personalities Shine Through
In an exclusive interview, the actors opened up about their natural chemistry. Peter Claffey took the lead in explaining the connection. "Our characters are so much like us in real life," he said. "They're just perfect. It feels destined to be."
Dexter Sol Ansell quickly added his perspective. "I brought the funny aspects to the show," he shared. "There are some good funny moments. And definitely confidence too."
Nerves Become an Asset
Peter revealed how his own nervousness unexpectedly helped shape his portrayal of Ser Dunk. He recalled feeling anxious during auditions and rehearsals. "I was so nervous at the start," Peter admitted. "I kept apologizing to everyone, saying 'I'm sorry, I'm just nervous.'"
To his surprise, the production team welcomed this vulnerability. "They told me that's good because it has to be like that," Peter explained. "So it became easy to bring that nervous atmosphere into the performance."
Favorite Duos from the Game of Thrones World
When asked about their favorite character pairings from the Game of Thrones universe, both actors had interesting choices.
Peter confessed his preferences might surprise some fans. "I was a fan of the Hound and Arya," he said. "But their dynamic became too rough. I actually loved seeing Tyrion and Joffrey together. Peter Dinklage and Jack Gleeson constantly talking to each other in the most vile way was amazing to watch."
Dexter chose a pairing from their own show. "I love Maekar and Aerion Targaryen," he shared. "They're absolutely hilarious. Sam Spruell and Finn Bennett play them so well. It's funny seeing them get along so well off-screen when they're awful to each other on screen."
The New Tale in Westeros
'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' adapts George R.R. Martin's novella 'The Hedge Knight.' The story follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, played by Peter Claffey, and his young squire Egg, portrayed by Dexter Sol Ansell.
The series is set in a unique time period within the Game of Thrones timeline. It takes place nearly 100 years before the events of the original Game of Thrones series. This places it another 100 years after the events depicted in 'House of the Dragon.'
Fans are already embracing this unlikely yet endearing duo. The actors' genuine chemistry and personal connections to their characters promise to make Dunk and Egg a memorable addition to the rich tapestry of Westeros.
