YouTuber Faces Legal Action After Staging Fake Gun Threat in Cinema
A disturbing incident unfolded in a movie theater when a YouTuber, identified as Fique Wamiq Ayub, triggered widespread panic by pretending there was a firearm during a film screening. The prank, which was captured on video, led to a chaotic evacuation and subsequent police intervention, highlighting serious safety issues in public spaces.
Panic Erupts During Film Screening
During the movie, Fique began shouting and making loud noises, unsettling fellow moviegoers. The situation escalated when he yelled, "he has a gun," causing immediate fear among the audience. Many patrons, fearing for their safety, were forced to leave the theater abruptly, creating a scene of confusion and distress.
Police were promptly called to the cinema after receiving reports of a possible firearm inside. Upon arrival, officers were directed toward three individuals who had exited the theater, including Fique and his companions.
Investigation Reveals Deliberate Prank
According to a police press release dated April 7, an investigation confirmed that Fique, along with Jaiden Joseph-Anthony Mosquera, aged 23, and a 17-year-old minor, had staged the incident intentionally to record reactions for a documentary. Fique attempted to explain the situation by speaking in an Indian accent, but initial police actions led to his release after more than 40 minutes of waiting.
However, the trouble intensified when Fique uploaded the prank video to YouTube, where it rapidly garnered over 600,000 views. This online exposure prompted authorities to re-examine the case, ultimately determining that the threat was fake and had deliberately caused a public disturbance.
Arrests and Legal Consequences
Following the investigation, police arrested Fique and his two associates. They now face legal charges related to causing a disturbance and mischief. The identity of the 17-year-old is being kept private due to his minor status. This incident has sparked broader concerns about the responsibilities of online content creators and the potential dangers of pranks in public settings.
Authorities have issued a stern warning, emphasizing that threats made during pranks, regardless of their authenticity, will not be tolerated. Legal action may be pursued against those involved in such activities, underscoring the serious repercussions of causing public fear.
Broader Implications for Public Safety
This event serves as a stark reminder that even pranks intended for entertainment can escalate into hazardous situations when they incite panic. While the perpetrators may have had humorous intentions, their actions resulted in widespread fear, police involvement, and legal troubles. The case underscores the need for greater awareness and accountability among digital influencers to prevent similar incidents in the future.
