Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will jointly inaugurate Nausena Shaurya Vatika, an open-air naval museum, on Saturday. The museum is dedicated to the bravery, sacrifice, technological excellence, and maritime legacy of the Indian Navy.

Location and Development

The museum is located near Gate No. 5 of Ekana Cricket Stadium. It has been developed collaboratively by the Indian Navy and the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department.

Centrepiece: INS Gomti

The highlight of Nausena Shaurya Vatika is INS Gomti, a decommissioned Indian Navy frigate that served the nation for nearly three decades before being retired on May 28, 2022. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to view naval equipment up close, including the AK-726 medium-range naval gun, CET-53M submarine obstacle equipment, ZIF-101 launcher with RJ, anchors, ship propellers, capstan drums, and the vessel's main mast.

Immersive Naval Heritage Experience

Designed as an immersive naval heritage experience, the facility features real naval artefacts, interpretation panels, and military displays that trace the evolution of India's maritime strength and security.

Official Statements

Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that Nausena Shaurya Vatika is a tribute to the courage, valour, and professionalism of Indian naval personnel. "This museum will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations and foster patriotism and military pride among youth. Visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the Indian Navy's history, war operations, technological capabilities, and contribution to maritime security," Singh said.

Larger Naval Heritage Initiative

Officials added that the Vatika is part of a larger naval heritage initiative worth over Rs 42 crore, which also includes the upcoming INS Gomti Shaurya Sanghralaya, a maritime museum currently under development.
