Television star Shilpa Shinde, who recently made a much-anticipated comeback to the popular sitcom 'Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain' after a ten-year gap, has revealed the personal struggles behind her professional return. The actress, reprising her iconic role of Angoori Bhabhi, finds readjusting to Mumbai's frenetic pace surprisingly difficult after years of tranquil living in Karjat.
From Farmhouse Peace to City Chaos
In an exclusive conversation, Shilpa confessed that despite being a Mumbai native, the city's noise and crowds now feel overwhelming. "Yes, it was difficult," she admitted, reflecting on her decision to return. The call from producer Asif Sheikh was compelling. "When Asif ji called and said, 'Let’s do it, everyone is missing you,' I agreed right away. There was no second thought," she shared. However, the practicalities hit her later.
Shinde disclosed a significant personal detail: she no longer owns any property in Mumbai and has been staying in rented accommodations or hotels since her return. This contrasts sharply with her life in Karjat, where she owns a self-designed, cozy farmhouse. "I was fully settled there (Karjat) and plan to be in the future as well, simply because of the calm it offers," she expressed, noting she felt a "strange sense of suffocation" upon returning to the metropolis.
Balancing Two Worlds: Work Joy Amidst Personal Adjustment
The actress is navigating a complex balance. While she deeply misses the serenity of Karjat, she is rediscovering the joy of her craft. "So adjusting back here made me wonder how I’d manage, with so many people around and constant noise on set," Shilpa said. "But at the same time, the work makes it enjoyable. The artists, the energy, and especially the script, it’s all fun in its own way."
She philosophically summed up her current dilemma with a Hindi proverb, "Par aap do naav mein savaar nahi hosakte" (you cannot ride two boats at once), emphasizing the need to find the right balance. For now, her peaceful farmhouse life is on hold, but she has clear plans to return to it eventually.
A Decade-Later Comeback
Shilpa Shinde's return to the show marks a significant moment for fans. She stepped back into the role after actress Shubhangi Atre, who had played Angoori Bhabhi for a decade, decided to quit. Shinde's comeback has been met with considerable enthusiasm from the audience, bringing a wave of nostalgia.
Despite the challenges of city life, Shilpa is committed to her work and is even developing a new concept for the future, which she prefers to keep under wraps for now. Her journey highlights the often-unseen personal costs and adjustments behind glamorous television comebacks.
