Shark Tank India Season 5 Pitchers Voice Concerns Over Edited Episode Content

Shark Tank India Season 5 continues to captivate audiences with its blend of business insights and entertainment. In a recent episode, a father-son duo, Arjun Goel and Sanjay Goel, presented their innovative fashion brand to the panel of judges. Their pitch centered around a unique concept: creating avatars inspired by the popular gaming platform Roblox. The entrepreneurs sought an investment of Rs 1 crore in exchange for a 10% equity stake in their venture.

Pitch Outcome and Post-Show Reflections

Despite failing to secure a deal during the taping, the Goels managed to impress the Sharks. Notably, they received a promise from Varun Alagh, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Kunal Bahl, and Viraj Bahl to reconnect after the show. In an exclusive interview, Sanjay Goel opened up about their experience on Shark Tank India 5, expressing both gratitude and disappointment regarding how the episode was edited for broadcast.

Sanjay revealed, "Arjun was really disappointed about certain aspects of the editing. It worked to our disadvantage that the Sharks didn't fully understand our concept because they come from business backgrounds with fewer moving parts. It was challenging for them to grasp everything in the limited time we had."

He elaborated that while Kunal Bahl comprehended their idea, the other four Sharks struggled due to the complexity of their business model. Sanjay emphasized that one and a half hours was insufficient to explain all the nuances, which ultimately impacted their pitch.

Missing Content and Creative Decisions

Sanjay highlighted a specific instance where Vineeta Singh asked a crucial question about their backup plan, and he provided a detailed answer regarding his vision. However, this exchange did not make it into the final cut of the episode. "I was really looking forward to seeing that answer on television," Sanjay expressed with regret.

He acknowledged the constraints of a reality show format, noting that creative teams alongside business teams make many editing decisions due to time limitations. Despite this, the Goels are pleased with the traction and interest generated from their pitch after it aired.

Post-Show Interactions and Promises Kept

Sanjay shared his skepticism about the Sharks' promise to meet again, citing his past experiences with investors. "On national TV, I didn't want to convey a misleading message that such promises are always genuine," he explained. However, he was pleasantly surprised when Viraj Bahl's team reached out two days before the episode aired to arrange a meeting.

"Viraj has been incredibly kind and helpful," Sanjay praised. "He called us and committed to monitoring our business growth. Viraj also invited Arjun to meet regularly to discuss progress and challenges."

Additionally, Viraj sent a bouquet and numerous gifts for Arjun, demonstrating his support. Sanjay noted that Viraj mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Kunal Bahl for future investment if the business shows more traction.

Sanjay concluded by reflecting on the editing of his statement about investors, which was shortened on TV. He clarified that his intention was to emphasize that investment could come from various sources, not solely the Sharks. Despite the editing disappointments, the Goels appreciate the opportunity and the genuine support they received from Viraj Bahl, who kept his promise and fostered a positive post-show relationship.
