Sapna Thakur Steps Into Gharwali Pedwali Role After Richa Sony's Health-Related Exit

In a significant casting change for the popular television series Gharwali Pedwali, actress Sapna Thakur has taken over the role of Rita, following the departure of original actress Richa Sony due to health reasons. The transition occurred approximately one month after the show premiered on December 5, marking a pivotal moment for the production.

From Audition to Opportunity: Sapna's Journey to the Role

Interestingly, this casting shift represents a full-circle moment for Sapna Thakur. "I had auditioned for the role earlier, but it didn't work out then and they signed Richa Sony," Sapna revealed, sharing the backstory of her involvement. "Perhaps they felt she was a better fit at that point, and I went on to join Binddii, which wrapped up in mid-January."

Following the conclusion of her previous project, Sapna received an unexpected call from the Gharwali Pedwali production team. "After that, I received a call from the Gharwali Pedwali makers to play the same character, as Richa had to quit the show due to health issues," she explained, highlighting how circumstances aligned to bring her back to a role she had previously pursued.

Embracing Comedy: A New Creative Challenge

For Sapna Thakur, the comedy genre proved to be a major attraction to the project. "This is the first time I am replacing an actor in a show," she admitted with evident excitement. "I was quite excited because I have never explored comedy before. I have mostly played negative characters, and I wanted to try something new."

This represents a deliberate career shift for the actress, who has predominantly portrayed antagonistic roles throughout her television career. The opportunity to explore comedic timing and lighter character dynamics presented an appealing creative challenge that motivated her acceptance of the role.

Preparing for the Transition: Honoring the Character's Foundation

To ensure a smooth transition for both herself and the audience, Sapna undertook careful preparation before stepping into the role. "I watched a few episodes to understand Rita's body language and the way the character has been portrayed," she shared regarding her approach. "Richa has already established the role. It will take some time for the audience to warm up to me, but I am confident I will connect with them."

The actress demonstrated respect for her predecessor's work while planning her own interpretation. "I will take cues from her performance and gradually add my own elements to the character," Sapna explained, outlining her strategy for making the role her own while maintaining continuity for viewers.

Seamless Integration: A Warm Welcome from the Cast and Crew

Despite joining the production towards the end of last month, Sapna has already established strong bonds with her fellow cast members and the technical team. "From the very first day, my co-actors welcomed me warmly," she reported with appreciation. "Everyone is positive and supportive. We eat together, crack jokes, and have a lot of fun on set."

The behind-the-scenes environment has proven particularly conducive to her adaptation process. "The team behind the camera has also been very encouraging and guided me through my track, which helped me adapt quickly," Sapna acknowledged. "It has been a pleasure working with the Gharwali Pedwali unit."

This supportive atmosphere has facilitated her transition into the established production, allowing her to focus on developing her portrayal of Rita without the additional pressure of navigating challenging interpersonal dynamics on set.
