Television superstar Rupali Ganguly has brought attention to the often-overlooked issue of abuse against men, emphasizing how it frequently remains unspoken and ignored in society. In a powerful upcoming episode of her hit show Anupamaa, the narrative will revolve around the trauma and abuse faced by men, aiming to shed light on this critical topic.
Breaking the Silence on Male Abuse
A specially curated sequence in the episode is designed to underscore the importance of men coming forward to discuss the abuse they endure, rather than staying silent due to societal pressures to "man up." Rupali Ganguly, who portrays the titular character in Anupamaa, shared her insights on this significant track. She stated, "The makers of Anupamaa are bringing that into light and using Anupamaa as a mouthpiece speaking against atrocities and against men. There are a lot of unspoken things that happen in society that need to be spoken about."
She further explained that while television dramas have traditionally depicted women as victims in domestic conflicts, with men often portrayed as perpetrators, the reality is more complex. "And though violence against women is an undeniable reality, men too suffer in silence," she added, highlighting the need for a balanced perspective on domestic abuse.
